EN 15038

EN 15038 is a quality standard developed especially for translation services providers to ensure the consistent quality of their services. It was published in 2006 by CEN, the European Committee for Standardisation ( This standard is generally accepted as a benchmark. It will soon be replaced by ISO 17100, and certified companies must make the transition to the ISO standard when their certificates expire.

ISO 900:2008

The ISO 9000 series of standards deals with quality management systems. It helps organizations ensure that they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders, while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to the product. ISO 9001 deals with the requirements that organizations wishing to meet the standard have to fulfil.

Many factors affect the price: language combination, type and purpose of the text, urgency, etc. All of these determine the procedure to be used, the resources to be deployed and therefore the price.

For English to Serbian, typical prices lie for example between 9 and 14 euros per translation page*. If a certified translation is required, it will typically cost around 2 euros more per page.

Prices for German to English run from 18 to 22 euros per page.

Revision** of an English text lies between 6 and 8 euros per page, and of a Serbian text between 3 and 4.50.

Translation with revision according to the ISO17100/EN15038 standard is always recommended.

Other prices apply according to the language.

* A translation page is typically defined as 1,500 characters not including spaces – this applies to English, Serbian and many other languages. Other measures can be used, by the word or line, for example, depending on the language.

** Revision entails comparison of source and target texts to check for e.g. errors of understanding, with a final proofreading. Proofreading is carried out only on the target text, to correct orthographical errors, spelling mistakes etc.
